Our modern hoisting and logistics equipment ensures smooth loading and unloading

The port operators at the Port of Kalajoki are responsible for various stevedoring services, such as vessel loading and unloading. The operators have modern hoisting and logistics equipment at their disposal, allowing them to handle a wide range of cargo, including sawn timber, bulk goods and containers.

At the Port of Kalajoki, the types of cargo we handle include, for example:

  • sawn timber

  • project cargo

  • plywood
  • steel structures
  • scrap iron
  • horticultural peat
  • grain
  • wood chips

Dedicated berths for ro-ro vessels and secure outside storage areas for project cargo

The port also has a stern-loading berth suitable for ro-ro vessels, ensuring smooth loading and unloading without the need for a crane.

The handling of bulk cargo is facilitated by more than 60,000 square metres of indoor storage space, as well as a weighbridge capable of weighing an entire articulated vehicle.

To serve our customers better than ever, we have built a total of 15 hectares (37 acres) of secure new outside storage space in the port.

At 550 metres long, the quay can handle larger volumes of cargo than ever, thus reducing ships’ waiting times.

Versatile hoisting equipment

Our port operators have at their disposal modern and versatile hoisting equipment that allows them to load a wide range of goods of different materials and weights onto ships and to handle the transfer of individual consignments. The wharf crane can lift loads weighing up to 100 tonnes, which is ideal for heavy and other special transport and project cargo.
